The Government’s much-anticipated Heat and Buildings Strategy promised a further £800 million to spend on retrofitting social homes from 2022/23 through to 2024/25, building on the £160 million already allocated for the current financial year. A further £950 million will be available for the next phase of the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG) and an additional £200 million for the Local Authority Delivery Phase (LAD3).

PVC-U and timber window and door manufacturers, suppliers and installers are being sought for a new four-year framework for public sector projects.

The Windows and Doors framework (WD2) from CPC allows local authorities, social landlords and other public sector bodies to source PVC-U and timber products and end-to-end design services for both residential and non-residential projects.

Eight suppliers have been awarded a place on a new engineering inspection framework, worth £5million, for public sector organisations across England and Wales.

Engineering Inspection Services (EIS1) includes eight workstreams that will enable public bodies to access pre-approved suppliers for the assessment of equipment and systems across social homes, high and low rise blocks, sheltered housing, office buildings, leisure centres, plant rooms and other assets.

Four million of the North’s homes need to be upgraded to reach an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) level C. That’s a huge target in itself, but when you factor in the Government's Clean Growth Strategy deadline of 2035 for this to happen, that means 270,000 homes need to be retrofitted every year until then.
